PILATES
My love of movement, which began with dance classes in my youth, led me to my first Pilates classes over 20 years ago. What was one class a week became two and I was then inspired to complete a teacher training with BCP (Body Control Pilates) in 2000. At the time I was a mother of 3 young children and looking for a new career; I found one!
Pilates has not only been my work and my pleasure for more than 2 decades, it stirred an interest in many other movement practices – namely yoga, both of which have given me insights into many areas of my life. They are not only what I do, they are part of my lifestyle; the rewards of embodiment are endless. It has been my personal experience and what I wish to share with others.
Strength and ease of movement come from within. I teach an alignment based flow which has grown out of my experiences, my past and continued training, personal practices and my long standing relationship with my clients, who have been my greatest teachers. My teaching is a conversation between us.
In private, one-to-one instruction as well as in group classes, I teach matwork; I enjoy utilizing both imagery and a deep knowledge of biomechanics to assist my clients to cultivate their body awareness, discover their strength and enable their unique expressive movement. My hope is that the effects of the time on the mat will carry beyond that, into one’s day and perhaps integrate into one’s life.
Since 2008 I have been a member of the BCP teaching faculty and have delighted in faciliating a new generation of teachers. I also run workshops & trainings for teachers from other Pilates training bodies.
